It’s no secret my favorite breakfast food is pancakes. Back in 2011, while visiting and exploring Columbus, Ohio I came across this cafe, Northstar located in the Short North Arts District section of Columbus just north of the downtown area. The area is a mix of eclectic residents, mom and pop shops and a vibrant art scene. The cafe is tucked in a nice corner spot along High Street. Inside its modern appeal yet, warm inviting atmosphere was a sight to behold. Grabbing a menu, browsing all the delicious offerings to be had, I noticed cloud nine pancakes. The menu describes them as three ricotta pancakes served with Ohio maple syrup and bananas paired with the house made breakfast sausage of all-natural pork, prepared in-house daily. I also added the fresh buttermilk biscuit with fresh organic strawberry preserves. After ordering at the counter, I was given a number to place at the table so the waiter can bring the order. Minutes later, the waiter brings the food to the table and to my delight, the food did not disappoint. In front of me were, three of the fluffiest pancakes I have ever tasted accompanied by sliced bananas, warm maple syrup, two house made pork sausages and a biscuit with strawberry preserves. A bite of pancake, sausage and banana with some maple syrup was the perfect bite to wake up my taste buds. If you happen to travel to Columbus, stop by Northstar, with their many locations to accommodate.
